Thom's Four Wheel Drive

"Listened to my vehicle issues and made the right recommendations. I've worked on my truck before and fairly familiar with issues, the problem is I don't have a garage, tools, or the time. I appreciate when as a customer the garage fixes what needs to be fixed and keeps communication open throughout the process. Great job. Keep up the hard and honest work!"

Simply the best mechanic I have ever done business with. Honest reliable and more than fair pricing. I have a 30 year old Wagoneer and Thom treats it like a new car. This is my third truck that Thom has worked on and his service has always been at the same level. Good mechanics are hard to come by great ones are impossible to find, this is why Thom's always has a shop full of customers. Greg's a great manager and Jen runs a great front desk.

I have been taking my cars to Thoms for more than 15 years. I had been recommended by another shop once I bought a 4wd and that shop didn't do American cars. Thoms was at his "old" location then and since moving to the new location, they have continued to develop loyalty programs, added more equipment and staff. I am now on my sixth vehicle (my wife also) and have never had a single complaint. I have grown much respect for Thom and consider him a friend and someone I can truly trust. I felt compelled to write this after reading a few bad reviews. I have sent many people to Thoms over the years and they also have had my great experience with this shop. And being in a service business myself, I have high expectations and have never been disappointed.

I have experienced death wobble in my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee ever since installing a Rusty's short lift kit 2 years ago. The kit was installed and the Jeep was sent to three different shop for this problem. Multiple alignments, parts changed, advise and other parts from Rusty's and still a serious death wobble. 1 day with Thom and replace two bad Rusty's parts and the Jeep feels like new. These guys know their Sh@$%t.

Jennifer was awesome to deal with on the phone. I knew I needed front and rear shocks/struts on my pickup. I had then order the parts the day before and they completed that job, an alignment (included), and a coolant flush in one business day. Apparently you can bring your own parts in that they will install as long as it's the right part. I would recommend doing this. The cost of labor/ hr is about $100 at this time which is cheaper than the dealer and more expensive than the fly by night places so I can live with that. I could've saved a lot of $ by bringing my own parts in but I'm not sure if I would've gotten the lifetime warranty. Thoms has a deal with the Enterprise Rent-a car on Lawrence so you can have the rental waiting at Thoms and drop off the rental there too!

I have taken my Jeep here for years after searching for a good mechanic. Thom's is fair, honest, and fixed things that local dealerships had been unable to fix for years. When I broke down out of town, another mechanic identified significant amounts of work that needed to be done that turned out to be false. A minor repair corrected the problem. Highly recommended.

I had a good friend recommend this place to me about 7 years ago and I have been thanking my lucky stars every since. Thom is just the best, most decent, awesome mechanic there is. I always feel like I'm going in to see my other dad. He's always up front, always explains everything to me in as much detail as I need and I honestly trust him 100 %.I first started going in there with a 97 Bravada which was a lemon of a car! And every time I'd take it in for an oil change he'd tell me to get rid of it! ha! At one point the A/C died and I took it in and he told me that it would cost more to fix it then what the car was even worth and not to do it. He didn't even charge me for the visit that day. And later that year I sold the car. What I really love about his place is that whenever I came in with a problem like "When I press the brake, the car starts making this weird sound", the FIRST they would do when I arrived was to drive around with me so they could hear exactly what I was talking about. That alone was so great...And usually just by actually hearing it, they could tell what was wrong. The other thing that I really loved was that they'd always keep me updated on everything. So when I'd get an oil change, they'd go over a few things, like, "Your such and such is starting to look worn out...It probably has another 8 months to a year left, so nothing you have to fix any time soon, but we'll keep checking on it again when you come in for your oil changes to see how it looks." So I rarely had any surprises. Once, they did a repair on the Bravada and a week later something wasn't right. So I took it back in and they looked everything over and found in the area they had just worked on, something amiss...But they said it shouldn't have gone amiss so they took full responsibility and fixed it up with no charge. Then I got an old 95 Jeep Wrangler and boy did I have a million problems with that car. But Thom was always there, always helping me through it all. I finally told Thom I had decided I wanted to sell it within the year, and so with that in mind, we'd figure out what HAD to be fixed...what could wait...what we could replace with a used part if I was just going to get rid of the car soon...etc...He always worked with me on everything. They really were like a little family to me.I finally sold my Jeep 2 years ago (Thom helped guide me through that too!) and I miss seeing them over there. I actually live super far away from them- but it was always worth the trip. And as soon as I get another car, I will be back!!!Love you guys!

They take care of their customers and are Honest, Humble, Knowledgeable, Experienced, and CurtiousThe A/C Compressor in my 2004 Honda CRV went out and I was told by Honda that it would be just over $4,000 to repair. This included replacing the entire system. After deciding not to be gouged by the dealership I went looking for a second opion and and did research on the A/C problem. Using their experience and Honda's recommened fix they completed the job quickly in a few days and gave me updates along the way. Upon receiving my car back, I took off for a road trip to Iowa. On our return trip the compressor went out again! Thom's graciously redid the job this time replacing every component of the A/C system. I drove the car a few days and the A/C started making an odd noise. When I took it back in they discovered the compressor was about to go out again. Keep in mind they followed the manufacturer fix 2x now. Out of ideas they contacted an A/C expert who told them he has never succesfully repaired one of these troubled Honda systems with success by following Honda's recomendation. Following the expert's advice Thom switched compressor models and a few other parts and everything has been running smooth now for over a month.Thom's has been in business a long time, so I was a bit surprised to have Thom himself admit he doesn't have all the answers. Never has a servicer admitted this even though we all know its true. The thing is he and his team knows where to go to get the answers and they came up a solid solution and that is what counts.Thank You for everythingI will be back.
